Loaded shotgun, mask, gloves seized in Rosehill

A man is due in court after a loaded shotgun, gloves and face covering were seized when he was stopped in a street at Rosehill yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police from Rosehill Local Area Command stopped the man on Hassall Street, Rosehill, about 5.15pm today; however, when he was told police were going to search his backpack, he allegedly tried to run away.

When the man was searched, police will allege it contained a loaded sawn-off shotgun, more ammunition, a mask and gloves.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with nine offences:

• Possess shortened firearm

• Possess loaded firearm

• Possess unauthorised firearm in a public place

• Possess ammunition

• Armed with intent

• Intimidate police (two counts)

• Possess prescribed restricted substance

• Assault police.

The man, from Merrylands, was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court later tomorrow.
