Kiama Municipal Council is pleased to announce several local groups have been successful in receiving grants and sponsorships to continue their good work in the community.The funding recommendations for Round 2 of the Community Grants and Sponsorships for financial year 2025/2026 were endorsed at Council's Ordinary Meeting in April.Recipients were chosen for their events and initiatives that enhance wellbeing, celebrate creativity, strengthen community connections and contribute to Kiama's vibrancy.Council is committed to fostering vibrant, inclusive and sustainable communities through the delivery of the Grants, Donations and Sponsorships Program.Gerringong Lions Club has been awarded a $10,000 sponsorship for its annual Christmas Parade, which has become an iconic event in the picturesque town.In the Community Grants (up to $7,000) category, the successful recipients included Healthy Cities Illawarra for its Let's Play Kiama event at Hindmarsh Park, Kiama Community Garden, The Creative Business Hub, Damico Sounds (Music in the Park), Illawarra Area Childcare to support its South Coast Child Wellbeing Network Conference and Electrify Illawarra.Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said these projects were selected for their strong alignment with Council's strategic objectives, community benefit, and capacity to deliver positive social and cultural outcomes across the Local Government Area."These grants and sponsorships will help deliver a significant range of events and programs that bring people together, build skills, raise awareness, and celebrate creativity and community wellbeing," he said.
