Logan Live sessions back to boost music industry dreams

Boost sessions are now open for emerging and professional musicians in the the City of Logan.
Boost co-ordinator Jimmy Watts will be among presenters sharing their wealth of knowledge with participants in the professional development program.

Emerging and professional musicians are invited to attend free professional development sessions as part of Logan Live 2021.

Logan City Council has hosted Logan Live annually since 2018 to build the City of Logan's live music scene through professional development sessions and a celebration of live music.

The Boost series will be held on Tuesday evenings (apart from July 27) between July 20 and August 31 at Logan Art Gallery and the Logan West Community Centre.

The six free interactive sessions are open to artists of all levels who either live in the City of Logan or have a connection to the area.

Participants can meet and network with fellow artists along with leaders in the music industry including musicians, technicians and venue and label owners.

Boost has been developed specifically for musicians and people keen to get into the music industry to inspire them to follow their musical dreams, increase their confidence and get their music heard.

City Lifestyle Chair Councillor Laurie Koranski said presenters at Boost are highly awarded performers, with some having ARIA accolades.

These include City of Logan hip-hop band No Money Enterprise, which has amassed more than 10 million views on YouTube and toured domestically and internationally.

"It is great these homegrown performers and their fellow presenters are keen to foster local talent and I encourage anyone interested in the Boost sessions to get involved," Cr Koranski said.

The sessions will discuss how to go from the rehearsal room to the green room and how to live stream and access global markets.

Details of all the sessions are available online.

Registrations are essential for the sessions and can be made at Logan Live Boost

The Boost series is being co-ordinated by songwriter and guitarist Jimmy Watts, who has extensive national and international touring experience, both as a soloist and as a member of a seven-piece band.

With a passion for performing live, Jimmy is keen to help other musicians reach their full potential and impart his experience as a live sound engineer, stagehand and roadie, bookings manager and operations manager.

Logan Live is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
