Lost bushwalkers - Royal National Park, NSW

Police have suspended the search for two bushwalkers lost in the Royal National Park, south of Sydney, late yesterday afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 5.30pm today, a 50-year-old woman and 47-year-old man contacted Triple Zero after becoming lost whilst bushwalking.

The couple became lost after leaving a trail near the Karloo Pools walking track.

Officers from the Sutherland Local Area Command responded to the call and established contact with the man and woman but due to terrain and darkness, were unable to locate them.

The couple are well prepared with warm clothing, two mobile phones, a torch and whistle as well as a supply of water. They are uninjured and have lit a fire to keep warm.

Police have instructed the couple to remain where they are and will resume the search this morning tomorrow.
