Low Head Historic Site Seeks Expressions of Interest

Tasmanian Government

Expressions of Interest are now open for the future use and operation of the Low Head Historic Site.

This EOI delivers a rare opportunity for proponents to bring new ideas, investment and vision to one of Tasmania's most distinctive and recognisable heritage locations.

Minister for Parks, Nick Duigan, said the opportunity to manage this site is now available for the first time in more than a decade.

"We are looking for a new operator with the capacity and ambition to think creatively about what the Low Head Historic Site could become, while respecting its heritage value," Minister Duigan said.

"The Low Head Historic Site offers visitors a rich and immersive experience of Tasmania's maritime past and includes the unique visitor accommodation, and an onsite café, set within a landscape that reflects the State's important seafaring history.

"This is a unique opportunity to take stewardship of a remarkable historic property and contribute to the ongoing celebration of the State's heritage."

Interested proponents are invited to submit an Expression of Interest demonstrating their vision for the site's future, along with the practical skills, experience and financial capacity required to successfully operate a complex tourism and heritage venture.

Applicants will also be expected to show a strong understanding of the historical significance of Low Head and a commitment to working collaboratively with the dedicated volunteers of the Low Head Pilot Station Museum who play a vital role in preserving and sharing the site's stories.

Expressions of Interest will be assessed by an evaluation panel, which will recommend a preferred proponent.

Applications are open until 26 June 2026.
