Lunar Arrest Tied to Offshore Tobacco Kingpin

Taskforce Lunar detectives yesterday arrested a man in connection to an offshore illicit tobacco syndicate leader involved in serious and organised crime.

A search warrant was executed at a residential address in Wollert around 1pm on Monday, 27 October.

A 57-year-old Wollert man was taken into custody.

Investigators believe the man is a family member of an offshore syndicate leader and is likely the onshore lieutenant for his criminality in both Victoria and Australia including arsons, extortions and unexplained wealth.

A quantity of cash and three mobile phones were seized from the address.

The man is expected to be charged on summons.

The investigation remains ongoing.
