Malicious wounding - Kingscliff

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital following a malicious wounding on the State's north coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Kingscliff Street, following reports a man had been stabbed about 10.40pm (Sunday 14 July 2019).

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and located a 56-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his head, chest, and abdomen.

Initial inquiries suggest the man was injured following an altercation with another man inside the unit.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital to undergo surgery.

Police seized a hunting knife at the location which will be forensically examined.

No arrests have been made.
