Police are responding to an ongoing incident at a correctional facility in Malmsbury, Victoria Police say.
Police were initially called to a disturbance involving around 30 inmates at around 2.45pm.
It is believed that around 13 inmates escaped the facility, six of whom have since been arrested and are in police custody.
There are seven inmates still outstanding. It is believed they are travelling in two separate vehicles being a red hatch and green Holden sedan.
The direction of travel of both vehicles is unknown at this stage.
Specialist resources including Operations Response Unit, Dog Squad, Fugitive Taskforce and CIRT are en route and local police are at the location.
There have been no injuries so far.
Members of the community are asked to call Triple Zero (000) if they see either of these vehicles and avoid them.
