Man and woman arrested on drug charges, South Australia

A man will face court today following an illicit drug arrest yesterday.

At around 9am, Thursday 23 December, Southern District detectives attended a house in Ascot Park and carried out a search uncovering about 1000 Xanax tablets and almost 50 LSD tablets.

A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Ascot Park, were both arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug. The man was also charged with supplying a controlled drug namely Xanaz.

This charge is subject to further investigation in respect to the sudden death yesterday of a 22-year-old Woodcroft man whose body was found at his home address yesterday morning. The deceased and the arrested man are known to each other and investigators are waiting the result of the post mortem and other forensic testing to ascertain if the death is drug related.

Investigations into both matters are ongoing. The man has been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today while the woman was bailed to appear in the same court on 14 February.
