Man and woman charged following domestic in Kempsey

A man and woman have been charged with property offences following an alleged domestic related incident in Kempsey yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm today, officers were called to Cochrane Street, following reports of an altercation between a man and a woman.

On arrival police found a 20-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted by the man.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene, where it’s alleged he damaged a police vehicle while being arrested.

The man and woman were both taken to Kempsey Police Station.

The woman was later arrested following subsequent inquiries into an alleged stealing incident on Monday 8 August 2016.

She was charged with malicious damage, goods in custody, steal from person, assault police and resist arrest.

The woman was granted bail to appear in Kempsey Local Court on Monday 12 September 2016.

The man was charged with common assault (DV), resist arrest (x2) and malicious damage (x2), and an unrelated stealing offence.

He was bail refused to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today tomorrow.
