Man arrested after fire in Adelaide office, SA

A man has been arrested after he allegedly set fire to a couch in an Adelaide office earlier this afternoon, according to SA Police.

At about 1pm, police were called to the Office of the Public Trustee in Victoria Square after reports a man had poured petrol on a couch inside the public seating area and set it alight. He then ran away from the area.

A security guard extinguished the small fire, and no one was injured. The building was evacuated as a precaution.

After a brief search, the suspect was located nearby and arrested.

The 38-year-old Elizabeth East man will face charges of arson and committing acts to endanger life, and it is expected he will be refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
