Man arrested after home invasion in Marrickville

Police have charged a man overnight following a home invasion in Sydney’s inner west, NSW Police say.

Just after 11.15pm on Friday 30 June 2017, two men and a woman were inside an apartment on Illawarra Road, Marrickville.

Police have been told a 21-year-old man, who was known to the group, entered the unit and began to argue with a 42-year-old man.

Police will allege the younger man then let another man into the unit.

The two men, armed with a machete and metal pipe, assaulted the 42-year-old man, before threatening him. As the two men left the scene, they assaulted a 17-year-male and a 46-year-old woman.

Investigators from Marrickville Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 21-year-old man and conveyed him to Marrickville Police Station.

He was later charged with being armed with intent to cause actual bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intimidation, affray and assault (x 2).

The man was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Monday 3 July 2017.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
