Man arrested after police operation near Bega, NSW

A man is in custody after a woman died and two men were stabbed on the state’s far south coast this afternoon, NSW Police say.

An extensive search began about 3.30pm today (Friday 1 June 2018), after a man and a woman were stabbed at a home in East Street, Bega.

The woman died and the man remains critically ill. He has since been airlifted lifted to a Sydney hospital.

Following the incident, a second man was stabbed during the carjacking of a vehicle on the Sapphire Coast Drive in Bournda. He was taken to a Sydney hospital and remains in a critical condition.

About 8.20pm, a 20-year-old man was arrested by specialist police near Sapphire Coast Drive, Bournda. He was taken to Bega Police Station and inquiries are continuing.

The ages of the deceased and injured parties are not available at this time.
