Man arrested after pursuit - Darwin

Police have apprehended a 25 year old male after a brief pursuit through Darwin this afternoon.

It is believed the male, armed with a loaded firearm, threatened two people in Nakara before stealing their vehicle, a blue Mazda 2, Northern Territory Police say.

Numerous units responded and a pursuit ensued through Berrimah and Winnellie, before it was terminated outbound on Bagot Road.

Within minutes the vehicle was located abandoned on Rapid Creek Road and the alleged offender was located nearby, still armed. He was apprehended without incident.

A crime scene remains in place on Solomon Street, Rapid Creek while members from the Crime Division investigate.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
