A man was arrested following a police pursuit of a stolen car at Mansfield Park overnight, according to SA Police.
A police Dog Operations patrol spotted a green Ford Falcon sedan just after it took off from a service station without paying for fuel on Grand Junction Road, Mansfield Park about 12.40am. The vehicle did not pull over for police and a pursuit commenced.
The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons on Cleveland Terrace, Ottoway before being taken over by the police helicopter (PolAir). PolAir was able to direct resources on the ground, resulting in the successful spiking of the car’s tyres near the intersection of Dudley Street and Hanson Road. The car continued before stopping in Belford Avenue, Devon Park where the driver got out and was quickly apprehended by patrols.
Further police checks revealed the vehicle had been stolen a short time earlier from a Brahma Lodge home during a break-in.
The 42-year-old Mansfield Park man was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use, drive dangerously to evade police, drive disqualified, make off without payment and breach of bail. He is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
