Man arrested following brief pursuit in northern suburbs, SA

Police have arrested a man following a brief pursuit in the northern suburbs earlier tonight, according to SA Police.

Just after 7.30pm on Thursday 1 June, patrols attempted to pull over a Nissan Skyline after it was seen doing a burnout on Main North Road near John Rice Avenue at Hillbank.

The driver refused and patrols pursued the car along Main North Road until they lost sight of it near Smith Road.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver run off after the Skyline side swiped an embankment on Target Hill Road. He was then seen to get into a Holden Barina with two other men.

That car was stopped on Hogarth Road a short time later by patrols who had converged on the area.

The wanted driver was then seen to run off but was located a short time later following a search.

The 21-year-old from Elizabeth South is expected to be charged with misuse of a motor vehicle, fail to stop, illegal use and engage in a police pursuit.
