Man arrested following incidents with stolen truck

Police are appealing for witnesses following numerous incidents involving a truck in the northern suburbs last night, Victoria Police say.

A 16 tonne flatbed truck was allegedly stolen from Quarter Street in Roxburgh Park just before 1pm yesterday.

The truck was involved in a collision in Preston about 6.40pm then reports started coming through to police regarding a truck driving erratically and hitting multiple cars in Brentwood Drive Lalor.

It is then alleged the driver of the truck attempted a carjacking at a service station on Edgars Road in Lalor but was unsuccessful.

The man took off in the truck again and was observed driving erratically on High Street Reservoir and then in backstreets before coming to a stop outside Epping Police Station about 8.30pm.

The man was arrested with the assistance of K-9 and police were forced to deploy OC spray.

The 47-year-old South Morang man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he remains under police guard and is yet to be interviewed.

No one else was injured during the incidents.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the truck driving erratically or any of the collisions to contact Crime Stoppers.
