A man has been arrested following a short pursuit with police in Auburn overnight, NSW Police say.
About 2.40am tomorrow, police from Rosehill Local Area Command attempted to pull over the driver of a Holden Astra that was travelling on Wellington road, Auburn, for the purpose of a random breath test.
Police will allege the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle stopped on Chisholm Road, Auburn, after smoke was seen coming from the engine bay of the Astra.
Officers arrested the driver and extinguished the fire.
The driver was taken to Auburn Police Station where he is expected to be charged.
