Man arrested following serious assault at Alberton, SA

Police have arrested a man following an assault at Alberton this afternoon, according to SA Police.

At about 4.15pm on Saturday 14 July, police and ambulance crews were called to Sussex Street after a man stabbed another man known to him following an altercation.

The victim, a 43-year-old from Alberton received an injury to his abdomen and has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

A 19-year-old man from West Lakes is currently in custody and has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with an minor injury to his hand. He is expected to be charged later today.

Sussex Street is currently closed to all traffic (vehicle and pedestrian) between King and Queen Streets while police investigate the scene.
