Man arrested for break-in St Peters, South Australia

Police have arrested a man following a break-in and the theft of two cars at a St Peters home early this morning.

Just after 6.30am on Friday 21 December, a man was woken by loud banging at the rear of his house on River Street. He went to investigate and saw up to five men standing on his rear verandah. One man was kicking the rear glass sliding door in an attempt to get into the house.

The victim retreated to his bedroom when he heard glass breaking. Police will allege the men entered the house and stole property and car keys. The victim then saw his white Subaru Forrester and silver Honda Civic speed off east on River Street.

Just after 8.30am the same date, patrols spotted the stolen Honda Civic on Semaphore Road. Police quickly set up cordons and approximately 10 minutes later the stolen car was located on Bridges Avenue, Osborne.

Four men were seen running from the area. Police gave chase and arrested a 22-year-old man from Port Adelaide without further incident. He was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and illegal use. He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrate Court on Monday 21 December.

The white Subaru registration number S827-BDM is still missing. Investigations are continuing into the three remaining suspects.
