Man arrested for breaking into Nowra school

A man will appear in court tomorrow after being arrested for breaking into a school at Nowra this morning.

About 6.40am Sunday, police were called to a school in John Purcell Way after reports of a break-in.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command discovered that the canteen had been broken into and commenced a search of the school grounds.

Police located a man and a short foot pursuit commenced.

Officers were assisted in the search by a dog unit and POLAIR during the operation.

Acting on information from the community police went to a garage in John Purcell Way and arrested a 42-year-old man about 11am.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station and later charged with break and enter x 2, enter enclosed lands and a revocation of parole warrant.

He has been refused bail and will appear at Nowra Local Court tomorrow.
