Man Arrested for Child Contact Obligation Breach

A northern suburbs man was arrested yesterday for failing to comply with reporting obligations.

On Tuesday 18 August, detectives from SAPOL's Public Protection Branch arrested a 33-year-old man from the northern suburbs and charged him with 15 counts of failing to report reportable child contact.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 4 November.

Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt, Officer in Charge, Offender Management Section, said, "Reporting obligations are not optional. These requirements are in place to protect children and assist police in managing risk within the community.

"When offenders fail to comply with these obligations, we will take appropriate enforcement action and place the matter before the courts."

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report. If you know abuse is happening right now or a child is at risk, call police immediately on Triple Zero (000).
