Man arrested for drink driving , SA

Police have arrested a man for drink driving after crashing his car into a tree at Hawthorn overnight, according to SA Police.

Just after midnight (Wednesday 8 March) police were called to Wurilba Avenue after reports a car, displaying "L" plates, had collided with a tree and burst into flames.

Fire crews attended and extinguished the car blaze which had spread to the tree but not before extensive damage was done to the black Holden Astra.

When police arrived witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle ran off however the passenger was still at the scene.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the driver.

Thankfully no one was physically injured.

As a result of an investigation, police attended an address on Angus Avenue at Westbourne Park and located the driver.

The learner driver, an 18-year-old man from Westbourne Park was breath tested and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.045.

He was reported for breach of learner conditions and driving without due car and will be summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
