Man arrested in Queensland after cross-border search

NSW Police have arrested a man wanted on a warrant in Queensland after a large-scale cross-border search, NSW Police say.

Officers from New England Police District, with the assistance of Queensland Police and Western Region Rural Crime Investigators, conducted a search for a man wanted by virtue of an outstanding warrant for revocation of parole.

About midday (Wednesday 23 May 2018), police arrested a 29-year-old man in Dirranbandi.

He was taken to Dirranbandi Hospital as a pre-caution and is expected to be charged by Queensland Police.

During the arrest, a detective senior constable was injured. He was taken to Dirranbandi Hospital for treatment to a minor hand injury.

Officers are continuing the search for 27-year-old Luke Jones, described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170cm tall, medium build with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
