Man arrested in stolen caravan, SA

A wanted man has been arrested in a stolen caravan at Saddleworth last night, according to SA Police.

The Jayco pop-top caravan had been stolen from Moonta Bay on 23 February and was spotted by police at the Saddleworth Caravan Park yesterday afternoon.

Police from Balaklava, Riverton and Port Wakefield staked out the empty caravan and arrested the man when he returned to the caravan in a stolen car about 8.30pm on Saturday 25 March.

The Ford sedan had been reported stolen from Renmark business on Wednesday night. Police released a CCTV image of the suspect obtained from a nearby business.

The 49-year-old Snowtown man was arrested on a parole board warrant and will be taken to gaol.

Investigations are continuing into a string of offences including the ramming of a police car at Balaklava on 24 February and the theft of the Ford from the Riverland this week.

Kadina CIB detectives expect to interview the man in the near future and lay further charges.
