Man arrested, Numinbah Valley police operation

Police have arrested a 24-year-old man following an extensive search operation in the Numinbah Valley area today, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at around 2.45pm the man broke into an unoccupied home on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road.

Upon the resident returning home, it will be further alleged the man forced the resident at gunpoint to drive him to an undisclosed location in the resident’s vehicle.

Whilst the pair were travelling along Nerang-Murwillumbah Road they were stopped at a police check point.

The 24-year-old man was arrested at this location whilst still in possession of a loaded firearm.

The 56-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police have revoked an emergency declaration made under the Public Safety Preservation Act earlier this afternoon for the Numinbah Valley area.
