Man arrested on driving charges - Colonel Light Gardens, SA

A man has been charged with numerous traffic offences, including drink driving following a crash yesterday at Colonel Light Gardens, according to SA Police.

Just before 3pm, an off duty police officer spotted a black SUV driving all over the road at Colonel Light Gardens. The officer called the police assistance line on 131 444 and gave updates of the car's location.

Shortly after the SUV had a low impact crash with the rear of a taxi on Richmond Ave, a uniform police car arrived and on spotting the uniform officers the male driver from the SUV fled on foot.

A short foot chase followed by the driver was apprehended a short distance away.

The 32-year-old man from Colonel Light Gardens was arrested and charged with driving unlicensed, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, fail to exchange particulars, hindering police and drink driving after he allegedly registered a blood alcohol level of 0.123 (two and half times over the legal limit)

The arrested man's car was also impounded for 28 days, he was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court next year.

There were no injuries in the crash.
