Man arrested on warrant for murder after flying back into Sydney, NSW

A man has been arrested over his alleged role in the murder of a teenager from Sydney’s south-west last year, after he arrived back in Australia on an international flight this morning, NSW Police say.

Police were called to a home on Moresby Avenue, Glenfield, about 6.10am on Friday 14 April 2017, and found 15-year-old Brayden Dillon in bed with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition, where he later died.

An investigation was launched by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, assisted by the NSW Crime Commission and South West Metropolitan Region, under Strike Force Wongala.

Four people have previously been charged by investigators. They remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, Strike Force Wongala investigators arrested a 33-year-old man after he arrived at Sydney International Airport from Thailand, about 11am today (Thursday 18 October 2018).

He has been taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with an arrest warrant for murder.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow (Friday 19 October 2018).

Investigations under Strike Force Wongala are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Wongala detectives to call Crime Stoppers.
