Man arrested over funny money in the Adelaide Hills, SA

A man has been arrested after he allegedly passed counterfeit $50 notes to three Adelaide Hills businesses last weekend, according to SA Police.

Police will allege on Saturday 20 October, the 49-year-old man from Hawthorn, passed two counterfeit $50 notes at two separate shops and made a third attempt at a supermarket before the fake $50 was spotted.

Mt Barker CIB Detectives arrested the man at his home address tonight, after he was identified by store CCTV images.

The arrested man has been charged with two counts of deception and one count of attempted deception.

He has been bailed to appear in the Mt Barker Magistrates Court on 28 November.
