A man has been arrested and charged over the unlawful detention and assault of a woman, according to SA Police.
Following investigations, Sturt CIB detectives last night arrested the 61-year-old man from the western suburbs.
He has been charged with unlawful detention, blackmail and aggravated assault of a woman known to him.
He was granted bail by the court to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 28 February.
As well as facing serious charges, the man was issued a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides further protection for the victim. PIIOs now provide police with greater powers to take immediate action to protect victims not only from physical violence, but also threatening and controlling behaviour.
