Man arrested with stolen laptop, SA

A man has been arrested after being caught with a stolen laptop at Eastwood earlier this morning, according to SA Police.

At 4.50am on Wednesday 17 May, a patrol spotted a man at the corner of Glen Osmond Road and Greenhill Road who seemed to be acting suspiciously. When they spoke to him, they noticed a laptop computer tucked under his arm.

Closer examination revealed a woman's name on the laptop, so police made further inquiries at her nearby Parkside address.

It will be alleged the woman's laptop was stolen from her unlocked car, parked outside her Parkside home, just minutes before the police encountered the man. The victim had been unaware of the theft and was extremely relieved to have her property returned.

The 51-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with illegal interference and theft. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Police ask residents in the Eastwood and Parkside areas to check their vehicles this morning and, if they have been interfered with, please report it on the police assistance line on 131 444.
