A man is assisting police with inquiries after several fires at Oak Flats overnight, NSW Police say.
About 2am tomorrow, emergency services were called to Leamington Street following reports of two cars and a boat on fire.
The owners of the vehicles and boat were able to extinguish the fires prior to fire fighters attending, but substantial damage was caused.
About 3am, emergency services were called to a house on fire in nearby Parkes Street. No persons were injured however all the fires appeared to be deliberately lit.
About 3.30am, police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command arrested a man in Parkes Street.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he is currently assisting police with inquiries.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
