Man caught drink-driving and speeding in school zone with child in car in Albury

A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught speeding and drink-driving in a school zone in Albury this morning with a four-year-old boy in the car, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 9am today, officers from the Traffic & Highway Patrol Command allegedly detected a Toyota Landcruiser travelling at 56km/h in a 40km/h school zone on Young Street.

The Landcruiser was stopped and the driver, a 43-year-old Albury man, was subjected to a breath test that returned a positive reading.

He was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where he returned a breath analysis of 0.126. He was charged with mid-range drink-driving and had his licence suspended on the spot.

The driver was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit in a school zone.

He is due to face Albury Local Court on Tuesday 7 March 2017.

Police will allege that at the time of the offences, he was travelling with a four-year-old passenger.
