Man caught driving almost four times over limit near Windsor, NSW

A man has been charged after he was caught driving allegedly almost four times over the legal alcohol limit near Windsor this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 5pm today, a 52-year-old man was stopped for a random roadside breath test on Eldon Street, Pitt Town (about 9km north east of Windsor).

The man returned a positive result and was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station.

He underwent a breath test analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.198.

The man had his licence suspended immediately and was charged with drive with high range PCA, to appear at Windsor Local Court on 26 January 2017.

Chief Inspector Garry Sims, Duty Officer at Hawkesbury Local Area Command, said the number of drivers continually found driving under the influence of alcohol was a concern.

"Senior police are extremely concerned that, despite the regular messages about the dangers of drink driving, drivers continue to place the safety of themselves and others at risk.

"Police will continue to be out in force. Those who choose to break the road rules and put lives at risk by driving under the influence of alcohol will be charged and will face the consequences," Chief Inspector Sims said.
