Man charged after armed robbery in Coonamble

A man has been charged after an armed robbery in the state’s central west.

About 8pm on Thursday (18 August 2016), a 30-year-old man was walking along King Street, Coonamble, when he was approached by a younger man.

Police have been told the younger man asked for a cigarette before allegedly producing a knife, NSW Police say.

The two men walked to a nearby business and the younger man was handed cash before he left.

Police were notified and officers from Castlereagh Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 1pm on Friday yesterday, police located and arrested a 24-year-old man.

He was taken to Coonamble Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

The man appeared at Dubbo Local Court yesterday today and was refused bail to reappear at Dubbo Local Court tomorrow (22 August 2016).
