A man will face court after he allegedly bit and stabbed a man after being caught breaking into a home at Marayong yesterday, NSW Police say.
Police were told just after 3pm today, a man allegedly broke into a home on Crudge Road after smashing a window at the rear of the house.
A resident sighted the man inside the house as he returned home and chased him into a nearby reserve.
A struggle took place where the man allegedly bit the resident several times and stabbed him in the elbow with a screwdriver.
The resident removed the screwdriver, punched the man in the face to stop the bites and was able to hold the man until police arrived a short time later.
Both were assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment, with the man under police guard.
The man, aged 46, was later taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with several offences including:
- Break, enter and steal in circumstances of special aggravation;
- Wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm;
- Use weapon/instrument to resist arrest; and
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
The 31-year-old resident was admitted to Blacktown Hospital for treatment of bites and a wound to his arm and is in a stable condition.
