Man Charged After Crashing Into Mudgee Police Station

A man has been charged after he allegedly drove at several police officers before crashing into a police station in the state's central west yesterday afternoon.

About 1.30pm yesterday (Friday 29 May 2026), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were conducting on foot patrol along Market Street, Mudgee, when a utility allegedly drove at them.

The officers attempted to stop the driver; however, he allegedly failed to follow police directions and left the scene.

A short time later, the driver – a 67-year-old man – allegedly drove the vehicle at another police officer exiting Mudgee Police Station, before crashing into the front foyer of the police station.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the incidents.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

The man was arrested on scene and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with,

- Destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life,

- Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts),

- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously,

- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and

- Custody of knife in public place - subsequent offence.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 later today (Saturday 30 May 2026).
