Man charged after double fatal crash near Dubbo, NSW

A man will face court next month in relation to a crash north of Dubbo, earlier this year, in which two children died, NSW Police say.


Emergency services were called to the crash site, approximately 12 kilometres north of Dubbo, about 3.30am Saturday 6 May 2017 after a 4WD and a B-double collided.

Officers from Orana Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Five people were travelling in the 4WD with two boys, a nine-year-old and a 12-year-old, found dead at the scene.

An adult male and female from the vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries but not conveyed to hospital.

A third child, a four-year-old boy with internal injuries, was airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.

The male truck driver, and only occupant of that vehicle, was treated at the scene for serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

Following investigations by police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, a 53–year-old Queensland man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice on 17 July 2017.

He will face Dubbo Local Court on 30 August to answer allegations of -

Dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous x 2

Cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle

Negligent driving occasioning death

Not keep left of dividing line - class B/C vehicle.
