A man has been charged following an investigation into a single-vehicle crash in Fairfield last month.
About 1.15pm on Sunday 12 October 2025, emergency services were called to the intersection of The Horsley Drive and Cockburn Crescent, Fairfield, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Liverpool City Highway Patrol attended and found a van had left the roadway and crashed into a power pole – trapping the driver and rear passenger.
The passenger – a 30-year-old man – was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for significant leg injuries, before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
The driver – a 49-year-old man – was treated at the scene and taken to hospital for further treatment and mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and investigations commenced with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, on Friday 14 November 2025, a 49-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
He was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 10 December 2025.
