Man Charged After Fatal Tyalgum Motorcycle Crash

A man has been charged following a fatal motorcycle crash in the state's north last year.

About 7pm on Sunday 26 October 2025, emergency services were called to Tyalgum Creek Road, Tyalgum, following reports of a motorcycle crash.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District found a hatchback vehicle and a motorcycle had collided, ejecting the rider.

Passerby attempted to render CPR, however; the rider – a 69-year-old man – could not be revived and died at the scene.

The driver – an 87-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and investigations by the Crash Investigation Unit commenced.

Following extensive inquiries, today (Saturday 10 January 2025), the 87-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), drive across dividing lines to do U-turn - motor vehicle and his licence suspended.

The man is set to appear before Murwillumbah Local Court on Wednesday 18 February 2025.
