Man Charged After Glendale Package Probe

A man will face court today charged following an investigation into a suspicious package at Glendale last week.

About 9.35am on Wednesday 29 April 2026, emergency services were called to a bus stop at a shopping centre on Stockland Drive, Glendale, following reports of an unattended package.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and found an alleged threatening note on a black duffel bag.

A crime scene and perimeter were established, with the nearby area evacuated as a precaution.

The area was cleared before specialist officers from the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit declared the area safe.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended a home on Barraba Street, Whitebridge, yesterday (Tuesday 5 May 2026).

A 64-year-old man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with leave/send substance/article create false belief danger.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday 6 May 2026).
