Man charged after guns seized in Casula

A man will face court today on gun possession charges after a crime scene warrant was executed in Sydney’s south-west last week, NSW Police say.

About 11pm on Thursday 15 March 2018, a number of shots were fired in a unit on Carnation Avenue, Casula, where it is believed a man was shot in the leg.

Police attended a unit, just before 7am on Friday 16 March 2018, following the incident and executed a crime scene warrant.

During the search a replica pistol, a firearm and ammunition were allegedly located and seized.

Following ongoing inquiries, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command arrested a 24-year-old man at the unit yesterday (Friday 23 March 2018).

He was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised firearm and possess ammunition without holding a license.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 24 March 2018).

Police will allege the 24-year-old man was a victim in a previous shooting at the location.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
