Man charged after home invasion in East Maitland

Police are conducting inquiries into an aggravated break and enter in East Maitland, NSW Police say.

About 9.20pm yesterday, a man and woman, both aged 20, were in their home on Curtin Street, East Maitland, when three males forced their way into the home.

They assaulted the male resident by punching him to the ground and kicking him, before fleeing the scene.

A fourth man remained outside the home at the time.

The four males were seen leaving the scene in a silver vehicle.

The 20-year-old male victim received minor injuries.

A short time later, police located the vehicle in the car park of a licenced premises in East Maitland, and a short time later, they arrested a 19-year-old man on Molly Morgan Drive.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court today.

Inquiries continue to identify the other offenders.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
