Man charged after hydro house dismantled in Peakhurst

A man has been charged after police located and dismantled a hydroponics setup inside a home at Peakhurst, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Grassy was established by the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad to investigate the supply of cannabis across Sydney.

About 10am (26 July 2016), officers from Strike Force Grassy executed a search warrant at a home on Webster Street.

A 28-year-old man was located in the bathroom. Police allegedly located cannabis plants and identified a hydroponic set up in three rooms.

The plants, with an estimated potential street value of $190000, and other items were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

A 28-year-old-man was arrested and taken to St George Police Station where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant (commercial quantity), and use/consume/waste etc. electricity without authority.

He will next appear at the Downing Centre Local Court Thursday 22 September 2016.
