Man charged after hydroponic house located in West Wollongong

A man has been charged after a hydroponic house was located in West Wollongong today, NSW Police say.

Police will allege the property on Valetta Street, had been converted into a hydroponic house.

About 5.30am today, officers from Wollongong Local Area Command attended the home and arrested a 20-year-old man.

Police searched the property and seized 296 cannabis plants, which have an estimated potential street value of $945,000.

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with large commercial cultivation of a prohibited plant by indoor enhanced means and unauthorised use of electricity.

The man appeared at Wollongong Local Court and was refused bail to reappear at the same court on Monday (7 August 2017).
