Man charged after motorcyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run in 2014, NSW

A man has been arrested and charged following an alleged hit and run crash that left a motorcycle rider seriously injured in Lake Macquarie in 2014, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday 3 June 2014, emergency services were called to Wild Duck Drive at Cams Wharf, in the Lake Macquarie region, following a crash.

Emergency services located a motorcycle rider, aged in his 50s, who had fallen from his bike and suffered serious injuries.

The rider was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics after losing an arm and a leg in the crash.

Police established a crime scene and closed the road while they investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit conducted extensive inquiries into the incident.

About 11am yesterday, a 29-year-old man, who was wanted on an arrest warrant in connection with the incident, attended Boolaroo Police Station.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where the warrant was executed and he was charged with eight offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, exceed speed by more than 45km/h, and fail to stop after accident.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on 19 January 2017.
