Three men will face court charged after a police officer was allegedly dragged by a car in Sydney's south west yesterday.
About 8.30pm (Sunday 31 August 2025), officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended a home on Avon Street, Bankstown for an unrelated matter.
Whilst at the location police observed an Audi sedan drive into the cul-de-sac and conduct a U-turn.
An officer approached the vehicle and instructed the driver to stop; however, the driver allegedly refused and crashed into a parked car.
The officer attempted to remove the three occupants from the vehicle, however; the driver allegedly accelerated away dragging the officer more than 200 metres before he fell, hitting his head.
The officer – a 24-year-old constable was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment – where he has since been released.
A short time later, police located the vehicle on Reynolds Avenue, Bankstown and spoke with a 46-year-old woman.
She was taken to Bankstown Police Station and later released without charge.
Following an extensive patrol, and with the assistance of the Dog Squad, police located and arrested two men – aged 36 and 41 – within the vicinity of Reynolds Street and taken to Bankstown Police Station.
The 36-year-old man – who police will allege was the driver – was charged with use etc offensive weapon in company to stop investigation and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Monday 1 September 2025).
The 41-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant for property related offences.
He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Drug Court today (Monday 1 September 2025).
