Man charged after officers assaulted in Orange

A man will face court in the state’s Central West tomorrow after two police officers were assaulted, leaving one with serious facial injuries., NSW Police say

Police from Central West Police District were investigating allegations a woman had been detained and seriously assaulted at a unit in Maxwell Avenue, Orange on Tuesday (7 August 2018).

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 29-year-old man at a home in Cyprus Street today (Friday 10 August 2018).

During the arrest, it is alleged two female senior constables were assaulted, with one suffering serious facial injuries. Both officers were taken to Orange Hospital for treatment.

The man was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with a number of offences including detain for advantage, wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, and assault police occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear at Orange Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 11 August 2018).
