Man charged after officers threatened with knife, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening police with a knife in Surry Hills this morning, NSW Police say.

About 1.50am today, a man approached officers at the intersection of Devonshire and Elizabeth streets.

He allegedly threatened police with a knife and made additional threats toward officers.

When officers arrested the man he allegedly resisted.

He was subsequently taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with intimidating a police officer, armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assaulting an officer in the execution of duty, resisting police, custody of a knife in a public place and larceny.

The 26-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The incident is being investigated by the Fixated Persons Unit.
