Man charged after pedestrian injured in fail to stop crash in Bankstown

A man has been charged after a pedestrian was injured in a fail to stop crash in Sydney’s west yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 7.30pm (Friday 9 March 2018), emergency services were called to the intersection of Eldridge Road and Northram Avenue at Bankstown, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

The driver then allegedly drove from the scene, failing to render assistance.

An 88-year-old man was treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced inquiries.

Just before 1pm today (Saturday 10 March 2018), a 24-year-old man attended Bankstown Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury, drive furiously in motor vehicle cause bodily harm, and negligent driving.

His licence was also suspended.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 4 April 2018.
